Trakoscan castle with a story of ancient history

On this trip, we will immerse ourselves deep into the past. On Croatian soil, more precisely, the northwestern region which we call „Hrvatsko Zagorje“ is found the remains of a protohuman. A museum was built near the site where the remains were found. It is a totally interactive museum where you can find everything about the past in this area. Through the museum, we will take you all the way back in time to see how protohumans lived and then back in a bit modern days exploring one of the most astonishing castles in this part of Europe.

Prominent travel magazine „Conde Nast Traveler“ has put this castle in the top 12 nicest castles in Europe in 2017, which is side by side to the most beautiful castles of Germany, Austria, France, and Spain. It was built in the 13th century as a minor fort. Through time it was changed and expanded many times. It was owned by many domestic and foreign families but one of the families stands out. The Drašković family was the one that actually built the castle as it is now, gives its popularity, and owned it from the 16th century till today.
